I also believe that fashion is art.Especially in this day and age Fashion is just another form of self-expression from the concept, to the construction, down to the actual "wearer" of the product.
Beth Ditto is just one of the many muses of fashion. She makes makes a remarkable point when she said the Punk would be no where without fashion. I think so much of music, both past and present has taken a lot of inspiration from fashion (and visa-versus). Its undeniable that fashion makes a statement everyday in our lives from the uniform of jeans and a tee up to the haute couture ballgown . The trail-blazer of fashion in the 20th century was Paul Poiret. he was one of the first to drive the idea of the Fashion designers as Artists. I believe it was he that was famously quoted in say that he freed women from the corset only to bind them at the legs ( this was in reference to his lamp shade skirt)Madame Gres, Vionet, Valentina, Elsa Schiaparelli,Christian Dior. The list goes on. Our designers are continuing that legacy. To some, fashion is their life. In this business you have to be passionate to continue. In an interview with W magazine, RuPaul discuss her dislike for Fashion Industry People
" I cannot stand the [fashion industry] people. I think the fashion people are so nasty and so pretentious. One thing that I am not is pretentious and I cannot stand pretentious people. I love fashion, love color, love texture, love all of that. But all of the people who surround that are rot-ten." -RuPaul
I definitely don't believe this to be true but of course the most extreme examples stand out like in any situation ( Such as this little opinion piece on vlogers on the cut)
